What it is

Imago is the Latin word for “image”.

We first fall in love with the positive images we see in a partner. These are imprinted in the subconscious. When frustrations come to the surface, we begin to see the negative images too, and that can lead to a power struggle.

What the work involves

The Imago approach looks at the core patterns that fuel conflict and disconnection in a relationship.

People are hurt in relationships, and those hurts leave trigger points and unmet needs. The Imago view is that a relationship is also a place where those hurts can be worked through.

An emotionally safe connection is created, in which conflict and frustration can be spoken about.

What a session is like

Partners usually attend together. Much of the session is a structured conversation between the two of you, with guidance.

Couples are taught communication tools, skills and principles that they can use on their own.

Is it right for us?

You do not both need to be certain before you come. We would decide together at the first session.
